The Perry High School Girls Wrestling Team continued its strong season with an impressive showing at the district tournament, sending four wrestlers to compete and advancing two athletes to the state stage.
Representing Perry at districts were Abby Cornwell, GG Dominish, Emily Kutscher, and Eva Kutscher, with Maddy Hedge serving as the team’s alternate. Each wrestler battled through a highly competitive bracket, showcasing the determination and growth of the Perry girls wrestling program.
Leading the charge for the Pirates were Abby Cornwell and GG Dominish, who both punched their tickets to the Ohio High School Girls Wrestling State Tournament. The state tournament will take place next weekend at Ohio State University, where the best wrestlers from across Ohio will compete for a state title.
For Cornwell and Dominish, this achievement marks an especially impressive milestone — both wrestlers have now qualified for the state tournament for the second consecutive year. Their repeat appearances at the state level highlight their dedication, hard work, and continued development on the mat.
Emily Kutscher and Eva Kutscher also turned in strong performances at districts, gaining valuable experience against top competition while representing Perry with pride. Meanwhile, Maddy Hedge earned recognition as the team’s alternate, a testament to the depth and competitiveness of the Pirates’ growing program.
With momentum on their side and experience already under their belts, Cornwell and Dominish will look to make another strong run when they step onto the mats in Columbus next weekend, carrying the support of the entire Perry community with them.
The future of girls wrestling at Perry continues to look bright as the Pirates build on another successful postseason showing.
